We denounce with righteous indignation and dislike men who are so beguiled and demoralized by the charms of pleasure of the moment, so blinded by desire, that they cannot foresee the pain and trouble that are bound to ensue; and equal blame belongs to those who fail in their duty through weakness of will, which is the same as saying through shrinking from toil and pain. These cases are perfectly simple and easy to distinguish. In a free hour, when our power of choice is untrammelled and when nothing prevents our being able to do what we like best, every pleasure is to be welcomed and every pain avoided.

Welding Apprenticeship

The welding apprenticeship is an on-the-job training in which workers learn the practical and theoretical aspects of a highly skilled occupation. Applicants for apprenticeship programs must be at least 18 years old and successfully completed the welding NAVIT program.

Construction Apprenticeship

The Construction Technology program emphasizes general residential and commercial construction by teaching basic hands-on skills applicable across a wide range of industrial and manufacturing processes. Highly qualified and experienced construction professionals provide instruction in small, personalized classroom and workshop settings.

Coursework is geared to fulfill the requirements of NCCER, the national agency for standardized construction training and credentialing. Successful completion provides a portable certification of skills that heightens employability in any location.

YES Camp

Our Youth Entrepreneurship Summer Camp is a week long camp put on at City Hall that partners with a variety of agencies and individuals (the business community, post-secondary education entities, community volunteers, teachers) to deliver career and entrepreneurial exploration to high school students to set them up for success beyond high school.  The YES camp places an emphasis on introducing students to opportunities available, working through a business plan and putting that plan into action.  The week ends with a presentation by the student participants of their new business!
