Frequently Asked Questions

Why would I register?

To begin the process of job exploration and training opportunities we need job seekers to first register in our system and complete the interest assessment. The assessment is only 40 quick questions and only takes about 15-20 minutes to complete.

What if I need help registering or have questions?

You can contact Kristi Ferguson, our Project Navigator, at kferguson@stjohnsaz.gov with any questions or make an in-person appointment.

What is the difference between workforce development and job training?

It gives each employee the competencies they need to help the business achieve its goals. Workforce development differs from job training by taking a longer view. It focuses not on what the employee needs to know now, but on how they can grow and develop over time to contribute even more to the business.

What services are available to adults and dislocated workers?

The adult and dislocated worker programs are designed to offer core services, intensive services, and training services to individuals who are 18 years of age or older.

  • Core services include initial assessment, job search, placement assistance, and career counseling.
  • Training services are available to those who are eligible for intensive services but have been unable to obtain employment through those services.

The dislocated worker program assists workers displaced by disasters, mass layoffs, or plant closures to regain economic security. Core services are provided to return individuals to work as quickly as possible.
