Opportunities for the Youth
The City of St. Johns RISE program supports a wide variety of opportunities to help the youth have the skills and training they need to successfully make the transition to adulthood and careers. These programs include:
- Apprenticeship
- YES Camp
- My Future AZ program
Welding Apprenticeship
The welding apprenticeship is an on-the-job training in which workers learn the practical and theoretical aspects of a highly skilled occupation. Applicants for apprenticeship programs must be at least 18 years old and successfully completed the welding NAVIT program.
Construction Apprenticeship
The Construction Technology program emphasizes general residential and commercial construction by teaching basic hands-on skills applicable across a wide range of industrial and manufacturing processes. Highly qualified and experienced construction professionals provide instruction in small, personalized classroom and workshop settings.
Coursework is geared to fulfill the requirements of NCCER, the national agency for standardized construction training and credentialing. Successful completion provides a portable certification of skills that heightens employability in any location.
YES Camp
Our Youth Entrepreneurship Summer Camp is a week long camp put on at City Hall that partners with a variety of agencies and individuals (the business community, post-secondary education entities, community volunteers, teachers) to deliver career and entrepreneurial exploration to high school students to set them up for success beyond high school. The YES camp places an emphasis on introducing students to opportunities available, working through a business plan and putting that plan into action. The week ends with a presentation by the student participants of their new business!
My Future AZ program
Take a career assessment, explore careers, create a post-secondary plan including training or college. Have a place to document your achievements and milestones on your path to your career.
